Changing Drive Letter Of Hard Disk

If you have been using a computer then you have absolutely heard the name of a “hard disk”.

Well in simple terms, Hard disk is like a computer’s brain where every data gets stored.

So today I’m going to show you how you can change the drive letter of your hard disk with an ease.

You can easily change drive letters of any disk connected to your computer by following some simple steps and all the steps are just the work of the front-end and you don’t need any technical knowledge.

You may also able to change the drive letter of your current (C:) drive in which the OS is stored, although I don’t recommend this.

So let’s get started.

Search for “Disk Managment” by opening the start menu and typing with your keyboard.

After finding it, open it.

You’ll see a new window just like the screenshot below has.

Then Locate the Hard disk section and choose which drive you want the drive letter to be changed.

Then, Right click on that drive and click on “Change drive letter and paths”.

A new pop-up window will appear. Click on Change button located on that window.

Choose any new drive letter and click “Ok”.

If you will be shown any warning message then, read the warning message carefully (only if you are ready to take the risk of data loss) and click “YES”.

Generally, nothing bad will happen, but we’ll not be responsible for any data loss or anything.

The process will not take more than 10 sec to convert your drive letter.
